It is hard to believe that there is a National Park with an urban centre as a backdrop, yet it is indeed true! Nairobi National Park is best seen year round and a great option for those who are stopping through Nairobi for business and unable to visit one of the further parks. Visitors can expect to see black rhinos, antelope and birdlife. Beyond the National Park, there are many other nature and animal sights to be seen in Nairobi and surrounding areas. Join us for a wonderful day on the “Top Nature Sights of Nairobi” tour.
We will pick you up at your hotel and head to Nairobi National Park.
Arriving just in time for the early morning game drive – it is best to tour the park before the heat of the day sends the animals away from view as they look for shade.
Leave the park and have brunch at a local restaurant while recounting the exciting animal spottings from the morning.
Visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Watch the baby elephants being fed and learn about the foundation’s efforts to save these beautiful animals from poachers. Occasionally baby rhinos will be on site as well. The elephants arrive promptly at noon to be fed and this is open to the public for one hour only.
Have an afternoon snack at Mamba Village – the crocodile farm – and walk around the man-made lake that is in the shape of Africa. The crocodiles are also a hungry bunch – they are fed by the keepers at 2 pm. The grounds have lovely gardens and the restaurant can accommodate dining by the lake or inside.
Have you ever wanted to kiss a giraffe? Well, here is your chance! We will visit the Langata Giraffe Centre where you can feed the giraffes from a raised platform and take close-up pictures of these gentle giants. The Giraffe Centre aims to create awareness and provide environmental education aimed at sensitizing Kenyan youth and the general population on the need to appreciate and conserve Kenya’s biodiversity.
We will drop you back to your hotel or make dinner reservations for you at a restaurant of your choice.
This sample itinerary can be combined with other great things to see and do in Nairobi! There are many nature-related places to visit and if you would prefer to substitute others such as the animal orphanage or the bird sanctuary for any of the above, we will be happy to accommodate your wishes. Just let us know what you would like to see or do and we can work with you design a fantastic one-day itinerary.
